On March 5, 2024, Google announced the March 2024 core update, whereby third-party content aimed at boosting ranking but lacking oversight from website owners will be classified as spam. This policy was effective as of May 7, 2024.
The CouponBirds research team compiled the top 200 coupon-related queries on Semrush in March 2024, and analyzed the domains appearing in the top 10 search results on March 1 and May 7, 2024. The chart shows news media domains made up 50% of the top 10 domains on March 1, decreasing to 0 on May 7, 2024.
